RELEASE NOTES
Release: GMC Build 19
Release Date: 29 October 2020
Purpose of the Release
This release includes the new Automated Software Installation feature. See below for details.
New Features & Enhancements
The following new feature has been added to the Assets page, which is available via “Assets” in the left-hand navigation:
Automated Software Installation Feature
Prerequisite: This feature is only available on ThreatBlockr 2.0 assets that have installed Build 57, which was released on October 29, 2020. Build 57 will need to be installed the traditional way, by downloading the build in GMC and then uploading and installing it on the asset. Once Build 57 is installed on a ThreatBlockr, this feature can be utilized for future ThreatBlockr software build installations.
Using this Feature: On the Assets screen in GMC, select the Available Software button at the top. A modal will open and display the details of the build and the applicable assets that can install it. You can choose to install the build individually on each asset via the buttons on the individual asset rows, or the build can be installed on all assets via the button on the top row.
The following installation options will be available:
- Update Now - Selecting this option will kick off the installation after confirmation is complete.
- Schedule Update - Selecting this option will allow you to select a specific date and time to install the build.
- Please Note: If a new build becomes available between the time you schedule the installation and the Scheduled Date, the latest build made available will be installed.
- Example: Build 58 becomes available on December 1. You schedule to install Build 58 on December 10. On December 7, Build 59 is made available. Build 59 will be installed on your Asset on December 10.
- Please Note: If a new build becomes available between the time you schedule the installation and the Scheduled Date, the latest build made available will be installed.
- Revert - Once you have installed ThreatBlockr Build 57 and utilize the Automated Software Installation feature for future builds (i.e. Build 58, 59, 60), you will be able to utilize this feature to revert to the previous software that was installed on your asset (with ThreatBlockr Build 57 being the minimum Build you can revert to). The installation will need to be scheduled and will kick off on the date and time selected.
- Example: If your asset has software Build 59 installed on it (via the Automated Installation feature) and the previous software Build on the asset was Build 57 (because you skipped installing Build 58), your asset would revert to Build 57.If you need an asset to revert to a previous Build that was not installed, you can always install that Build the traditional way by downloading a Build in GMC and uploading and installing the Build on the ThreatBlockr.
PLEASE NOTE: The time selected for Scheduled Updates and Reverts is in the user’s local timezone, but saved in the backend in UTC. If the user is located in New York City (EST) and selects 6:00PM, but the asset is located in San Francisco (PST), the installation will begin at 6:00PM EST / 3:00PM PST.
